BOARDING - GENERAL INFORMATION
- Each time you bring your dog or cat in for boarding you will be required to fill out an information sheet. You can download this sheet from the downloads page and fill it out in advance. This will help complete our check in procedure.
- When you arrive at the kennel to drop off your pet, we ask that you leave your pet in the car (if possible) until our check in procedures are complete. When all paper work is filled out then you may bring your pet in.
- We are dedicated to the health and well being of your pet. During check in we ask questions about bumps, lumps, red spots, previous illnesses, medical conditions, etc. Please notify our staff of pre-existing health problems or allergies. Some issues may not seem important but they are important for us to properly care for your pet. So please inform us of anything no matter how small.
- We supply dry dog food for your pet. We feed Excel brand dog food. It is an all natural, chicken based food. If you wish to bring your pets own diet, that is fine. We simply ask that you put the food in a storage container, such as Rubbermaid. We will not accept a bag of food not in a container. We also prefer that it is divided into individual feedings and placed in Ziploc baggies.
- We also supply dry cat food. If you want to bring your own, same instructions as above.
- We provide clean comfortable bedding and food /water bowls. Toys and treats may be checked in with your pet. Canine Country Club is not responsible for loss or damage of any personal items.
- We have no way of knowing whether an incoming guest has been exposed to an upper respiratory virus. An exposed animal may take from 2-3 days to several weeks to show signs of illness. Pets can contract these viruses on walks, at the beach, at a dog show or in the veterinarian's office, anywhere they may come in close contact or airborne contact with other animals. Boarded pets are susceptible to viruses such as Bordetella, Pneumonitis, etc. Even though all of our guests are vaccinated for these, vaccines are only effective against some strains of upper respiratory and not 100% effective against any. These illnesses are usually limited to mild cold-like symptoms. If you have concerns about this please discuss them with our staff.
When your pet goes home
When you plan to pick up your pet, don't forget to bring your collar and leash because we will not keep them with your pet. Your pet will be glad to see you but don't overdo his welcome. Your pet can become overexcited and this may cause digestive upsets on the ride home or after you return home. When you return home, it is best to let him rest and re-acclimate himself to his surroundings before feeding. A small meal is best and allow him small amounts of fresh water. All the excitement and panting will make him want to drink a lot of water, and if he does he may vomit the water.
It is normal for pets to be tired after their vacation and it may take 2-3 days for him to act like his normal self. Don't be concerned if he spends a lot of time sleeping. In rare cases, your pet may exhibit symptoms of upset stomach. This can be from excitement or the change on diet or water. If he is not running a fever or showing other signs of illness he should be himself within 48 hours.
Important: If your pet has diarrhea, withhold food until it clears up, you may administer Pepto Bismal pills or Immodium AD. If you pet shows other signs of illness, please call your veterinarian and us.
